2017 Vinelea Malakoff Syrah

Impenetrable pitch black core with an outlying dark red black hue. An intriguing bouquet of black cherry, liquorice, smoky vanillin cedar, dried meats and scorched earth show good intensity with some trailing blackpepper end notes also present. Rich and full bodied, opulent ripe black cherry and liquorice fruit is backed by some fairly prominent toasty vanillin cedar with clove, scorched earth and blackpepper elements ensuing. Slightly dryish finish with ripe chewy tannins. The toasty vanillin oak component lingering on the medium to long aftertaste.
