2017 Vecchie Terre di Montefili Chianti Classico

Deep dark red colour with black tinged edges and a dark red hue. Dark currant and red cherry aromas are tied to earth, dried herb and light spicy tobacco notes. Elegant and fresh, the palate has a light savoury profile of red currants and red cherries complemented by earthy dried herb characters, dusty cedar and spice. Dry, slightly rustic finish with a chalkiness to the tannins and lively acidity. Medium length aftertaste.

Freshly opened pack of rubber bands, liquorice, cherry, red fruit, reductive, dried herb. Crisp, more earth, tannin is chewy and good, strawberry, good bit of punch and energy, finish is bright and long. Needs time. Typical of many a Classico, a bit sullen and locked in at present. Drink 2022-2030.
