Produced from a blend of 98% Shiraz and 2% Viognier sourced from the Lyndoch, Rowland Flat, Moppa, Ebenezer and Light Pass districts of Barossa Valley. The wine was matured in a combination of new (50%) and older French barriques for a period of 30 months.

Super plush and decadently rich, this is a magnificent rendition of Torbreck’s Run Rig.

Impenetrable inky black in colour with a very deep dark red black hue. A potent mix of blackberry, liquorice, black cherry and dark plum aromatics flood the olfactory senses. Adding complexity are toasty vanillin oak, fennel, subtle notions of dried apricot, earth and spicy pepper notes. Extravagantly rich, densely concentrated and possessing a voluptuous textural feel, lavish dark plum, liquorice, blackberry and to a lesser extent black cherry fruits engulf every corner of the mouth. Vanillin oak, subtle scorched earth elements, fennel, dark chocolate and faint traces of cinnamon sit underneath. Silky smooth, cashmere like tannins, their structural attributes being largely concealed. Stupendously powerful with an aftertaste that lingers for minutes.
Drink over the next 8-10 years.
Alc. 15%

Other Reviews….
As usual, the 2017 RunRig is approximately 2% Viognier. It spent almost 30 months in oak, 40% of which was new. Hints of peach or apricot appear on the nose, alongside notes of hickory smoke, cherries and baking spices. It's full-bodied and concentrated but supple and silky enough to seem lighter in the mouth, showing tremendous length and elegance on the finish, where it adds nuances of cinnamon and cocoa. Drink 2020-2035.
