2017 Sandalford Cabernet Merlot

A blend of 95% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Merlot matured for 4 months in French oak, 20% of which was new. Totally opaque dark red black colour with a deep bright dark red purple hue. Aromas of ripe red currants and mulberries intermingle with cedary tobacco characters, some inky earth and bay leaf notes. Medium bodied the palate possesses rich ripe red currant and mulberry flavours over dusty vanillin cedar and spicy bay leaf infusions. Slightly dryish finish with bright youthful acidity and well integrated tannins. Good length with a medium to long conclusion of ripe red currants, mulberry, subtle cedary tobacco characters, a touch of dusty earth and bay leaf.
