2017 Powell & Son Kraehe Shiraz

Impenetrable inky black colour with a very deep dark purple black hue. The intensely scented nose sees black cherry, barbecue spices, clove and smoked meats in the drivers seat. Liquorice and blackpepper sit underneath in what is a very Northern Rhone like sniff. Showing more purity of fruit is the rich, densely concentrated palate which has lavish blackberry, liquorice and black cherry fruits overshadowing a backdrop of smoky vanillin oak, dried meats, infusions of earthy herbs, black olive and blackpepper. Exceptional power and depth backed by ripe muscular tannins which for the most part are concealed by the wines opulence. Concludes very long and harmonious. A classic rich, opulently textured Barossa Shiraz that has a Northern Rhone slant to it.
