$239.88 Dozen
Cellar: 5 - 6 Years (2024-2025)
ABV: 14.5%
Closure: Stelvin

Adjacent to the Edwards Road boundary of the Penny’s Hill property sits 5 acres of cabernet vines which were planted in 1993. This slightly elevated vineyard has narrow planted rows which produce low yields of concentrated fruit. Maturation took place in French oak, 30% new with the remaining 1-3 year old, for a period of 16 months.

A beautifully crafted Cabernet that unifies richness and power with great structure.

Outstanding depth of colour displaying an impenetrable black as night core with a very deep dark red black hue. Pronounced ripe blackcurrant and liquorice aromas laced with bay leaf sail from the glass followed by underlying cedary tobacco characters and spice. A bounty of rich fruit floods the mouth with great concentration and creates a generously textured feel. Flavours of ripe blackcurrant, liquorice and mulberry are to the fore underpinned by elements of tobacco, spicy vanillin cedar and traces of bay leaf. Finishes slightly chewy with well integrated, sturdily built tannins providing a great framework. Fantastic depth and power with a long ripe blackcurrant, mulberry, subtle liquorice, cedary tobacco and spicy dried herb aftertaste.
Cellar 5-6 years.
Alc. 14.5%

Other Reviews….
McLaren Vale cabernet, matured in French oak.
The quality here is pretty irresistible. It’s a firm, bold wine with fruit laid on and yet, throughout, it feels controlled and composed. It tastes of licorice, tar, blackcurrant and cedarwood, the latter bringing a creamy smokiness along with it. This is cellar-w0rthy to say the least. Drink 2022-2032+
