2017 Nicks Secret Yarra Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

From a legend of the Yarra Valley who has been making wines for over 30 years this secret Cabernet Sauvignon offers wonderful current drinking at less than half its normal price. The 2017 vintage saw a return to more traditional vintage conditions with even temperatures, cool nights and long ripening period delivering excellent fruit.

Refined and velvety this is a delightful expression of Yarra Valley Cabernet Sauvignon.

Matured in a combination of new (30%) and seasoned French oak hogsheads for a period of 16 months. Totally opaque black dark red colour with a dark red black tinged hue. A mix of blackcurrant and mulberry scents infused with black olive and tobacco notes rise out of the glass with good intensity. Hints of bay leaf are also evident. Medium bodied and possessing a refined, velvety feel the palate is redolent in spicy blackcurrant and mulberry fruits which overlay a black olive, cedary tobacco and bay leaf back drop. Polished tannin structure with a touch of earth emerging on the long, elegant yet highly flavoursome conclusion.
Drink over the next 2-3 years.
