2017 Mr Riggs The Chap Shiraz Cabernet Sauvignon

Personally tailored by Mr Riggs this high end offering comes appropriately dressed in a dark blue bound presentation box that even smells like a new suit! Fruit is sourced from Ben’s own Piebald Gully vineyard in McLaren Vale whilst the Coonawarra Cabernet component comes from Weatherall vineyards. Maturation took place in a mixture of French (80%) and American (20%) oak, of which 35% was new, for a period of 22 months.
Dense inky black heart with a deep dark red black tinged hue. Potent aromatics of cassis, blackberry, liquorice and dark chocolate engulf the nostrils with some vanillin cedar, subtle tobacco, earth and mint also evident. Full bodied, the palate is layered with rich blackcurrant, choc mint and blackberry fruits. Shades of liquorice, vanillin cedar, earth and spice linger underneath. Excellent power and good freshness with a sturdy fine grained tannin structure. Concludes with a long spicy choc mint aftertaste.
