2017 Kilikanoon Mort's Block Watervale Riesling
Brilliant water like colour with a very distinctive greenish tinge to the outskirts. Freshly squeezed lime juice, granny smith apple and lemon scents drift from the glass followed by wet steel and flinty mineral notes. Showing excellent intensity with a tight, steely structure, zesty palate flavours of lime, lemon and green apple leave the mouth salivating over a back drop of wet steel and flinty mineral. Dry snappy finish with very precise, razor like acidity. Long lemon, lime, green apple, wet steel and mineral infused aftertaste.
Cellar 6-8 years.
Alc. 12.5%
Other Reviews….
Hand-picked, free-run juice cold-settled, all parcels fermented separately with cultured yeast. The bouquet wastes no time in establishing the region, variety and quality of this single vineyard, multi-block riesling. The floral bouquet leads into a palate of striking intensity, texture and structure, lime and lemon both claiming ascendancy, neither winning. More focus than Golden Hillside, but not richer. Drink by 2029.
