Opaque dark red black colour with a bright red purple hue. Intense yet refined aromatics of plum and liquorice laced with dried clove and hints of fennel overlay meaty characters, smoky vanillin cedar and pepper notes. Elegant with an understated level of richness and power, the savoury medium bodied palate is filled with dark plum, ripe cherry and liquorice flavours which sit over smoky vanillin cedar, some meatiness, infusions of fresh herbs and pepper. Well integrated acidity and finely grained tannins. Medium to long spicy pepper laced aftertaste of red to dark fruits, smoky vanillin cedar, meaty characters and herbs.
Cellar 5-6 years.
Alc. 13.5%

Other Reviews…
Giant Steps have stopped putting prices on their media samples so I don’t know the price. But I do know however that it saw 100% whole bunches and saw only 10% new oak. It was grown on the Sexton and Tarraford blocks.
It’s pretty much as you’d expect and hope; no better, no worse. Everything is in good sound order but at the same time – no mean feat – it offers a pile of personality. Bunchy herb notes, black cherry, svelte mouthfeel, peppercorns and florals. Heaps going on and yet it feels seamless. The finish isn’t scintillating, in terms of length, but it’s well and truly satisfying. It’s in a good place. It’s a very good wine. Impeccable, really. My score kept increasing the longer I sat with it, and this note probably reflects that. Drink 2019-2019+
