Other Reviews....
The 2017 Nuits Saint-Georges Aux Thorey 1er Cru, which is matured in 55% new oak, has a very detailed bouquet of tensile black cherry and light cassis fruit, the mineral component becoming more expressive with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with broody black cherry and boysenberry fruit, a strong saline influence here and an oyster-shell-tinged finish. It will need several years bottle age but will be worth the wait.

An equally pure, cool and restrained nose offers an appealingly spicy array of red currant, cherry and soft earth nuances. Like most of the wines in the range, the mouthfeel of the energetic medium weight flavors is wonderfully refined while possessing excellent complexity on the balanced and youthfully austere finale. Lovely stuff fashioned in an understated style.

The 2017 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Aux Thorey offers up a lovely bouquet of cassis, blackberries, warm spices, licorice and peony. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, ample and layered, with superb concentration and an earthier, chewier profile than the Murgers this year—despite the finesse of its tannins.
