Louis Boillot in concert with his wife Ghislaine Barthod and their son Clément Boillot-Barthod manage a fabulous array of old-vine vineyards in both the Cotes de Nuits and Cotes de Beaune. Whilst this Burgundian ‘red-royalty’ family hold no Grand Cru vineyards they turn out some of the most beautiful red Burgundy along the Cote d’Or.

Other Reviews....
An exuberantly fresh and pretty nose is formed by cool, pure and airy aromas of pomegranate, red cherry, raspberry. In the same vein there is a lovely sense of underlying tension and wonderfully refined if lighter weight flavors that are saline and stony before concluding in a bitter cherry-inflected finish. This is a classic Chambolle of lace and grace. Drink 2023+.

Boillot's 2017 Chambolle-Musigny Village is, as usual, largely derived from the lieu-dit Beaux Bruns, and it is a great success this year, wafting from the glass with aromas of cherries, raspberries, rose petal, dark chocolate and subtle spices. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, satiny and beautifully pure, its ripe tannins cloaked in succulent fruit. It's an expressive, charming Chambolle with plenty of depth at the core.

William Kelley - Wine Advocate (Feb 2019)

The 2017 Chambolle-Musigny Village has a light, airy bouquet of breezy, carefree red fruit; a touch of cold stone emerges with time. The palate is medium-bodied with a fresh opening. There is plenty of vigor here, leading to a well-defined, sorbet-fresh finish with orange peel lingering on the aftertaste. Very fine. Drink 2021 - 2036.

80% comes from the village sector of Beaux Bruns with the balance from Derrière le Four. Fresh bright mid purple. There is the correct floral elegance here and the wine is very graceful on the palate, not massively concentrated but very come hither. The oak is sitting well with the fruit. Delicious and will be enjoyable quite young.
