Other Reviews....
This too is really quite pretty and pure with its relatively high-toned aromas of various flowers, essence of red cherry and soft earth wisps. The vibrant and utterly delicious if not particularly concentrated medium weight flavors deliver possess an appealing and relatively refined mouthfeel thanks to the fine-grained tannins shaping the youthfully austere finale.

The 2017 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Clos des Grandes Vignes Rouge was showing well, unfurling in the glass with notes of dark plums, incense, dark chocolate and spices, framed by a generous application of smoky new oak. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, ample and satiny, with a decidedly elegant profile, its supple tannins cloaked in succulent fruit. Parts of this 1.12-hectare vineyard has been replanted, but Liger-Belair told me that he will use the young vines to produce a Nuits-Saint-Georges Village for sale to French restaurants until they are sufficiently mature to be included in the blend.

The 2017 Nuits Saint-Georges Clos des Grand Vignes Rouge 1er Cru, which contains some whole cluster fruit, has an earthier bouquet than the Aux Cras, and is perhaps a little more introverted at this early juncture. The palate is beautifully balanced with silky-smooth tannin, a subtle lactic note in the midpalate and hints of dark chocolate toward the caressing finish. This will require three or four years in bottle and then should drink well for another 20 years.
