2017 Denton Nebbiolo

Denton is owned and operated by father & son, John & Simon Denton. With their combined experience in architecture & hospitality, they established the property in 1996 and planted the vineyard between 1997 & 2004. The "View Hill" vineyard is situated in Yarra Glen on an isolated hill set over granitic sandy soil on a north-facing aspect. Luke Lambert has overseen winemaking since 2015, contributing his years of Yarra Valley experience, especially when it comes to producing great Nebbiolo.

Nebbiolo is grown midway up the North western slope to optimise the available sunlight required for ripening in the Yarra Valley. Destemmed and wild fermented on skins for 20 days, the wine is then pressed to French Oak Puncheons (20% being new oak) for maturation.

Luke Lambert regards the 2017 vintage as the best harvest he has seen in the Valley, with mild weather and slow, even ripening. This resulted in wines of high acidity and heaps of aroma. Expect fresh red fruit, aniseed, red flower perfume, and fine tannin.
