2017 De Bortoli Melba Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon

Totally opaque black colour with a deep dark red hue. Nosing offers up ripe blackcurrant scents which are followed by hints of black olive, cedary tobacco characters and spicy earth. Medium bodied, ripe dark to black currant fruits are underscored by earthy black olive, cedary tobacco and spicy dried herb characters. Firmly structured with grainy tannins and a robust medium length aftertaste.
Cellar 6-8 years.

The trio of high-end cabernets are exceptional. This Reserve is an essay in texture and beautiful cabernet flavours. Cassis, warm earth, wood smoke, tar and baking spices. The medium-bodied palate is caressed by cocoa-powder-like tannins and terrific length. Lovely today but will reward more with cellaring. Drink by 2035.
