2017 Coriole Shiraz
The Lloyd family founded Coriole in 1967, and are considered pioneers in the McLaren Vale region, and visionaries in the planting of Italian and French varieties long before it was fashionable. Despite this Shiraz has been Coriole’s principle variety and flagship wine since the first bottling in 1970. This wine is 100% Estate grown and the average vine age is 50 years old with maturation taking place in French oak hogsheads.
Impenetrable black as night core with a deep dark red black tinged hue. Lifted liquorice and red plum aromas combine over vanillin cedar, hints of fennel and pepper. Full in body, rich juicy liquorice, dark plum and blackberry flavours take flight over a back drop of spicy vanillin cedar, light earth and pepper. Plush textural feel with velvet like yet structured tannins. Excellent fruit intensity and length with a long spicy dark plum, liquorice, blackberry, lightly smoked vanillin cedar and pepper aftertaste.
Cellar 6-8 years.
