2017 Bass Phillip Gamay

Deep dark red core with black tinged edges and a purple red hue. The very fragrant nose features aromatics of violets, ripe dark cherries and strawberries laced with clove, anise and spice. Showing good weight and richness for Gamay the palate is generously flavoured with dark cherries, ripe strawberries and anise followed by dried herbs and subtle clove. Finishes spicy with a dash of sour cherries freshening up the finish. Bright acidity, fine smooth tannins and a long spicy sour to dark cherry and dried herb aftertaste. An excellent rendition of Gamay that counter balances its generosity against a vibrant feel.
Drink over the next 2-3 years.
