2017 Atze's Corner Forgotten Hero Shiraz

Matured for 18 months in new French oak barrels with a total production of only 38 dozen. Pitch black in colour with a very deep dark red black hue. Potent scents of ripe blackberry, liquorice, dark plum, dark chocolate and toasty vanillin cedar waft through the nostrils with notions of mocha, earth and spice also chiming in. Extravagantly rich, thick and dense the palate is engulfed with voluptuous blackberry, black cherry, liquorice and black plum fruits which are infused with a hefty dose of toasty vanillin oak. Earthy mocha, fennel and spice characters ensue. Slightly dryish finish with firmly built tannins lending some grip to the long opulent yet robust finish.
Drink over the next 6-8 years.
