A blend of 58% Grenache, 24% Shiraz and 18% Mourvedre certified organic. Totally opaque black dark red colour with a deep dark red hue. Ripe black raspberry, dark cherry and liquorice aromas leap from the glass followed by subtle scorched earth and pepper scents. Rich and full in body, a wave of succulent black raspberry, liquorice and dark cherry fruits cascade across the palate underscored by ripe chewy tannins and vibrant acidity. Some scorched earth and spicy pepper characters are also evident. Excellent structure, power and concentration with a long sturdy yet sumptuous finish.
Cellar 5-6 years.
Alc. 14.5%
A 54/24/18% blend, wild yeast open-fermented, matured for 10 months in used French oak. Magical, deep crimson; as devotees of Chateau Rayas, and others from the Rhone Valley will attest, grenache has many faces, the most admired in that part of France, its serious, long-lived, complex and structured single varietal pose. But it's usually in a blend, and in Australia usually with shiraz and mourvedre, and this is a compelling example of all the individual flavours of its components. Drink by 2041.
