2016 Wirra Wirra Catapult Shiraz

Totally opaque black dark red colour with a bright youthful purple red hue. Inky freshly crushed dark cherry, blackberry and liquorice aromas rise from the glass followed by vanillin cedar and spice. Lively in its youth the palate has red and dark fruit flavours of cherries, red liquorice and blackberries combining over a back drop of inky earth and spicy vanillin cedar. Finishes dry with fresh acidity and finely grained dusty tannins. Aftertaste of inky dark cherries, blackberries, red liquorice, earthy vanillin cedar and spice.

Pretty much as the essence of McLaren Vale shiraz as you are likely to find at this price. Black and purple fruits, choc-mint notes, soft tannins, and some suggestion of oak. Still has years of improvement around the corner. Drink by 2031.
