Mendoza, ARGENTINA
$39. 99
Bottle
$479.88 Dozen
Cellar: 6 - 8 Years (2024-2026)
ABV: 14%
Closure: Cork

A Bordeaux style blend of 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Malbec, 9% Merlot, 4% Petit Verdot and 2% Cabernet Franc matured for 15 months in new American oak, 20% of which was new. Whilst still rich and full the 2016 is a slightly more elegant expression of Cocodrilo and not quite as heavy as past vintages. Totally opaque pitch black colour with a deep dark red black tinged hue. The nose displays an elevated combination of red and black currant fruit melding into some mulberry with traces of liquorice also evident. Vanillin cedar and faint spicy dried herb notes ensue. Full in body the smooth, integrated palate has an opulent yet elegant mouthfeel with rich red and black currant fruits dominate over some mulberry, subtle dark chocolate, well integrated vanillin cedar, traces of dried herbs and spice. Very fine grained tannins have a solid underlying structure. Excellent depth with a long ripe blackcurrant, ripe mulberry, subtle dark chocolate, vanillin cedar, tobacco, liquorice and spice aftertaste.
Cellar 6-8 years.
Alc. 14%

Other Reviews….
A beautiful 2016 with fine tannins, currant, blackberry and hazelnut character. Medium-to-full body, tight and silky tannins and a flavorful finish. Bordeaux blend. Cooler than the 2015. Drink in 2019.
