Held back to allow the additional complexity from age to shine through this is an excellent example of mature Marsanne. Brilliant straw colour with a glimmer of green around the edges and a watery hue. Unfurling from the glass with plenty of intensity are pear, honeysuckle and oily toast like notes which intermingle with some lemon butter, bees wax and spice. Rich pear and honeysuckle flavours have a waxy textural feel with oily toast like characters, lemon butter and spiced almond sitting underneath. Finishes dry with balanced acidity and a long richly textured aftertaste.
Drink over the next 3-4 years.
Alc. 13.5%

Other Reviews…..
Awesome. At six years old, the 2016 Museum Release Marsanne has picked up spiced peach, curry leaves, brine, cold tea, honeysuckle, buttered toast, quince paste and brine. It is delicious—and a really important wine to re-release back onto the market in order to indicate the aging potential of this iconic wine. Drink or hold (at least, drinking it will satisfy your curiosity, and on that basis I encourage it).

A fabulous follow-up vintage to the excellent 2015, encapsulating all the beauty of the Rhône grape that comes with bottle age. The characters we see in youth remain: the honeysuckle, jasmine florals and citrus force. Built around them are complexing additions through age, of hay, almond meal, pear skin and apricot nut. Acidity is firm but also soft. Stunning value, as always. Drink by 2031.
