2016 Powell & Son Brennecke Grenache
Superb colour displaying an inky black dark purple core with a bright dark purple hue. Intense aromatics of black cherries, black raspberries and liquorice waft out of the glass underpinned by smoky vanillin cedar, faint earthy dried herb notes and spicy pepper. Gloriously rich and super concentrated, swashbuckling flavours of black raspberries, luscious black cherries and liquorice sit over a backdrop of smoky vanillin oak (which should better integrate with time), infusions of dried clove and spice. Very opulent mouthfeel with sturdily built tannins taking on a velvet like appearance beneath the waves of rich fruit. Long powerful aftertaste of succulent black raspberries, liquorice, black cherries, smoky vanillin cedar, dried clove and spice.
