The 2016 Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru Millésime L’Esprit de 2016 is lovely, wafting from the glass with aromas of crisp yellow orchard fruit, nectarine, white flowers, ripe citrus fruit and warm bread. Medium to full-bodied, pillowy and precise, it's charming and fine-boned, with a pretty core of fruit, racy acids and a pearly mousse. Drink 2021 - 2038.

The 2016 Brut Cuvée Millésime L'Esprit is laced with the essence of tropical fruit, exotic white flowers and lemon confit. Intensely perfumed and radiant, the 2016 offers tons of near and medium-term appeal. This is an especially racy, aromatic, weightless edition of the Esprit. Dosage is 4.5-5.5 grams per liter. Disgorged: February, 2021. Drink 2021 - 2031.

Antonio Galloni - Vinous

Sourced from four of the great grand cru villages of the Côte des Blancs, L’Esprit is an archetype of a classy Chardonnay-based Champagne. Rodolphe identifies seasonal elements from each of the villages; steely wintery austerity from Le Mesnil, ripe summer generosity from Avize, spring flowers from Oger and autumnal hints of spice and sousbois from Cramant. Be that as it may, today the wine sings with great charm, its frothy billowing core silky and wonderfully elegant; notes of apple charlotte, praline and lemon pith are all evidenced and the finish is long and persistent, with a teasing twist of salinity. Drinking Window 2021 - 2026.
