Matured in a mix of new and 1 year old French and American oak for 14 months. Excellent colour displaying an inky black heart and a deep dark red black hue. Aromas of blackcurrant and liquorice infused with black olive are followed by vanillin cedar, spicy earth and bay leaf. Rich blackcurrant and liquorice fruit laced with bay leaf are pinned down by a stern structure comprised of robust tannins and bright acidity. Elements of black olive, earth and spice make an appearance on the back palate. Good depth with a dryish finish and a firm, chewy aftertaste.
Cellar 5-6 years.
Alc. 14.5%
An intriguing combination of deli meat and spearmint aromas introduce a wine that dares, in an accessible way, to be different. It's all backed by a substantial serve of cassis-like fruit, and includes both a handy tether of tannin and sound length. Now or later, this will rise to the occasion. Drink by 2028.
