2016 Municipal Whitegate Vineyard Stretcher Block Tempranillo

Totally opaque black dark red colour with a very dark red hue. Aromas of black cherries and liquorice meld into leather, scorched earth and spicy dried herb notes. Mid weighted black cherry and liquorice fruits are underpinned by prominent leather and scorched earth characters with some dried herb and spice tailing off onto a dryish finish. Robust mouthfeel with sturdily built tannins and a slightly rustic aftertaste.
Drink over the next 2-3 years.

Cola, cherry cola, sarsaparilla, sounds like soft drink, isn’t, but does that earthy-sweetness-herbal thing really well and in balance. Lovely texture, bright and yet just the faintest yielding to Autumnal characters, brine-like minerality. Far out. This drinks a treat. Complex and savoury thing this is.
