2016 Mr Riggs The Chap Shiraz Cabernet Sauvignon

Personally tailored by Mr Riggs this high end offering comes appropriately dressed in a dark blue bound presentation box that even smells like a new suit! Fruit is sourced from Ben’s own Piebald Gully vineyard in McLaren Vale whilst the Coonawarra Cabernet component comes from Weatherall vineyards. Maturation took place in a mixture of French (80%) and American (20%) oak, of which 35% was new, for a period of 22 months.
Magnificent colour displaying an impenetrable inky black core and a very deep dark red black hue. Filling the nostrils are intense aromatics of ripe blackcurrant, blackberry and liquorice which are complimented by vanillin cedar, dark plum, tobacco, earth and spicy dried herb notes. Rich, lavishly textured and super concentrated, every corner of the mouth is engulfed with ripe blackcurrant, blackberry and liquorice fruits. Ensuing on the back half is lightly toasted vanillin cedar, earth, tobacco and spicy dried herbs. The sheer volume of fruit giving what is otherwise a sturdily built tannin structure a velvety feel. Exceptionally powerful it finishes super long and opulent.
