2016 Moorilla Muse Series St. Matthias Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon Cabernet Franc

Dark red black tinged core with a dark red hue. Lifted ripe red currant and mulberry aromas are complimented by cedary tobacco, dried herb, spicy cedar and black olive notes. The medium to full bodied palate features red to dark currant and mulberry fruits over a back drop of cedary tobacco characters, earthy black olive and spicy bay leaf. Elegant yet tense and structured in its feel with slightly chalky tannins and a tightly wound finish.

From St Matthias Vineyard in Tamar River. An impressively affordable introduction to the wonders of Tasmanian cabernet. Ripeness is always the game in this space, and this is an exemplar. At 5 years of age its blackcurrant and cassis core is integrating impeccably, with a strong backdrop of firm, fine tannin structure that promises another decade of potential yet. Drink by 2031.
