2016 Merricks Estate Pinot Noir

Merricks Estate was one of the first commercial vineyards on the Mornington Peninsula being planted in 1978. A warm and dry growing season delivered the earliest vintage on record for Merricks Estate with the resultant wine matured in French oak barriques (27% new) for 11 months.

Semi translucent dark red colour with black tinged edges and a transparent dark red hue. Lifted spicy dark cherry, anise and strawberry aromas mix with toasty oak, earth and dried herb notes. Seductive ripe dark cherry and strawberry fruits make a silky entry onto the palate with anise, dried herb, light toasty cedar and spice lingering on the back half. Supple tannins finishing with ample power and a long expansive aftertaste.
Gorgeous drinking over the next 4-5 years.
