2016 Merricks Estate Chardonnay

Merricks Estate was one of the first commercial vineyards on the Mornington Peninsula being planted in 1978. Matured for 10 months in French oak barriques. Brilliant pale straw colour with a slight greenish tinge around the edges and a watery hue. Intense ripe white peach and nectarine aromas draped in dried honey rise out of the glass with citrusy nougat, biscuity oak and spice notes also evident. Rich white peach and ripe nectarine flavours fill the mouth with dried honey characters, cashew, citrusy nougat and light spice wrapping up the finish. A full, creamy like textural feel is counterpointed by good fresh acidity. Excellent length with a long ripe peach, nectarine, dried honey, citrusy nougat and spicy cashew aftertaste.
