2016 McGlashan Wallington Estate Shiraz

Matured in a combination of French and American oak for 18 months. Totally opaque black dark red colour with a dark red black tinged hue. A peppery nose of liquorice and dark cherries is overlaid by dried clove and meaty characters with some spicy toasted cedar also evident. Medium bodied, generous liquorice and blackberry flavours infused with blackpepper are underscored by dried clove, an earthy meatiness, toasty cedar and loads of spice. Dry finish with somewhat rustic tannins imparting a robust feel to the finish. Bright youthful acidity with an aftertaste of blackpepper, liquorice, scorched earth, meaty cedar and spicy dried clove infusions.
