2016 Massolino Barbera d'Alba

Opens with great colour displaying an impenetrable black dark purple core with a deep bright dark purple hue. The nose presents lifted aromatics of earthy freshly crushed red and dark cherries along with some plum and liquorice over spicy vanilla and subtle dried herbs. Bright and juicy with plenty of energy the palate dishes up flavours of inky crushed dark cherries, plum juice and a touch of liquorice over some light earth and spicy vanilla. Finishes with lively acidity and faintly chalky tannins. Aftertaste of freshly crushed dark cherries, plum, inky earth, vanilla and spice.
