2016 Lopez Cristobal Tinto Roble

A blend of 95% Tempranillo and 5% Merlot. Fantastic colour saturation displaying an impenetrable inky black core with a very deep dark purple black hue. Lifted ripe black cherry and dark plum scents meld with some liquorice over vanillin cedar, a subtle inkiness and spicy earth. Rich succulent black cherry liqueur and liquorice flavours dominate the palate over ripe dark plums, scorched earth and spicy vanillin cedar. Chewy textural feel finishing dry with robust tannins. The oak component sticks out a little at present but hopefully will better integrate with time. Chewy aftertaste of luscious black cherries, liquorice, strong vanillin oak, scorched earth and spice.
