2016 Linke Shiraz
Located in Tanunda in the Barossa, Linke remains a 5th generation family owned producer. Their two vineyards - the "Stonewell Block" on the western side of the Barossa, and the "Dorrien" which is on the valley floor, consistently produce top notch fruit for renowned labels (including St Halletts and Langmeil). Since 2002, a portion of fruit has been reserved for the family's own label utilising vines that have an average age of 20 years old. Maturation is American oak, 90% used and 10% new.
Prodigiously rich, this is a blockbuster Barossa Shiraz that hits the palate with volcanic force.
Impenetrable inky black core with a deep dark red black hue. Wafting from the glass are heady black cherry, ripe blackberry, liquorice and dark chocolate aromas with vanillin oak, faint dried raisin and spicy mocha notes in hot pursuit. Prodigiously rich, decadent and voluptuously textured, flavours of ripe blackberry, liquorice and luscious black cherries body slam the palate. Vanillin oak, subtle mocha and spice underscoring the lavish volumes of fruit. Plush silky smooth tannins. Incredibly concentrated and powerful finishing very long with a sumptuous black fruited aftertaste.
