Best known for producing arguably Australia’s greatest Chardonnay, Leeuwin Estate’s Art Series Cabernet Sauvignon continues to fly under the radar and in comparison to other Margaret River heavy weights such as Cullen & Moss Wood still delivers great value.
2016 was one of the best all round vintages Leeuwin Estate has seen, with Chardonnay, Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon standout varieties. Incorporating 1% Malbec, the wine was matured for a total 22 months in French oak.
Totally opaque black dark red colour with a dark red hue. Refined yet showing ample intensity are aromatics of red to black currant and mulberry gently infused with violets. Dusty vanillin cedar, light tobacco, dried herbs and spice ensue. Mid weighted with a very polished feel, red to black currant and mulberry fruits show both richness and finesse over a back drop of vanillin cedar, light earth, bay leaf and spice. The tannins finely crafted to provide an elegant framework. Excellent length with an exquisite finish of great persistence.
Cellar 8-10 years.
Alc. 13.5%

Other Reviews….
After berry sorting, cold soak and maceration, pumping over three times daily, the wine pumped to French barriques for mlf and 9 months maturation. The Art Series range has a clear family approach to each wine, a focus and sophistication that brings certainty to its long-term maturity. Drink by 2036.
