2016 Kennedy Heathcote Shiraz

Matured for 12 months in 20% new French oak. Totally opaque black dark red colour with a dark red hue. Blackberry and liquorice aromas are to the fore with smoky oak, fennel and peppered earth notes ensuing. Mid weighted the palate features plush blackberry, dark cherry and liquorice fruits over spicy vanillin oak, scorched earth, fennel and blackpepper. Finely grained yet sturdily constructured tannins with an elegant pepper infused aftertaste that is a nod to Northern Rhone.
Drink over the next 3-4 years.

Ship-shape shiraz. Textured, flavoured and styled to a tee. Priced too, for that matter. It tastes of peppercorns, plums, fistfuls of exotic spice and sweet, smoky oak. Everything is in balance, everything is well polished, everything works in harmony. Drink by 2030.
