2016 Isole e Olena Chianti Classico

Made from a blend of 82% Sangiovese, 15% Canaiolo and 3% Syrah with maturation taking place in large oak barrels for approximately 12 months.

Deep dark red black tinged colour with a dark red hue. Intense ripe dark to black currant and dark cherry aromas are matched up with earth, old cedar, dried herbs, tobacco, hints of leather and spice. The delicious medium bodied palate is blessed with rich red to dark currant and cherry fruits which have a fleshy feel. Subtle elements of earth, old cedar, dried herbs, tobacco and spice sit beneath. There’s a sturdiness to the tannins yet they come across as very refined and quite polished. Excellent depth with a long and savoury aftertaste.
Drink over the next 5-6 years.

The wine is made with 82% Sangiovese, 15% Canaiolo and 3% Syrah. The fruit is fermented in stainless steel, and the wine ages in oak for a brief seven months. The effect is streamlined and compact, and the wine's natural freshness gives way to wild cherry, cassis and plum. Drink 2019-2026.
