2016 Incygnes Green's Vineyard Shiraz
Incygnes is a relatively new start up with former Wolf Blass winemaker Matt O’Leary at the helm. Utilising the resources of Green’s Vineyard famed for the production of the Kilikanoon Green’s Reserve Shiraz which sold upwards of A$80.00 per bottle and received lavish praise from American wine guru Robert Parker, including several high ninety point scores. The fruit is sourced from both older (over 40 years old) and younger vines planted over different soil types to maximise complexity with maturation taking place in a mixture of new and seasoned French oak for 18 months.
A hedonistically rich yet densely structured Barossa Shiraz.
Impenetrable inky black core showing magnificent saturation of colour with an equally deep black dark red hue. Wafting from the glass are hedonistic ripe blackberry and chocolate bullet aromas followed by dark plum, vanillin oak, mocha and spice. Extravagantly rich, powerful and opulently textured, an array of liquorice, blackberry, black cherry and dark plum fruits completely swamp the mouth. Lying underneath is a sturdy tannin and balanced acid structure which provides the required support yet takes nothing away from the velvety nature of the fruit. Elements of vanillin oak, traces of mocha and spicy pepper are also present. The finish long, intense and densely structured with lingering blackpepper characters.
