Barossa, South Australia, AUSTRALIA
$49. 99
Bottle
$599.88 Dozen
Cellar: Drink now - 8 Years (2021-2029)
ABV: 14.5%
Closure: Stelvin

A blend of 57% Shiraz, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Merlot and 6% Cabernet Franc matured in a mixture of 71% French and 29% American oak hogsheads of which 13% were new for a period of 18 months.
Pitch black in colour with a deep dark red black tinged hue. Leaping out of the glass with great intensity are aniseed and liquorice top notes followed by dark plum, blackcurrant, subtle dried herb, vanillin cedar and fennel scents. With a body weight tending more to the fuller side, the richly flavoured palate is blessed with Henschke’s trademark silkiness. Mouthfilling flavours of liquorice, dark plum and ripe blackcurrant overlay a vanillin cedar, subtle earth, fennel and spice background. Super smooth tannins show beautiful integration. Finishes long with a high level of seduction.
Drink over the next 6-8 years.
Alc. 14.5%

Other Reviews….
Matured in French and American hogsheads (18% new) for 18 months. The bouquet does indeed bellow from the glass like that a euphonium. It has a swag of red, black and purple fruits all in tune, something very different for drinking now. Drink by 2026.
