2016 Harvest Moon Heathcote Shiraz

A great entry level Heathcote Shiraz filled with rich juicy fruit.

Matured for 10 months in French oak, 10% new, with balance in 2-8 year old barriques. Displays Heathcote’s hallmark colour saturation with an inky black purple core that’s totally impenetrable and a deep dark purple black tinged hue. Singing out of the glass are lifted aromatics of ripe blackberries and liquorice tinged with a hint of dark chocolate followed by some vanillin cedar and pepper. Rich, boldly flavoured liquorice and blackberry characters hold sway over crushed rock, vanillin cedar and a touch of spicy pepper. There’s a sturdiness to the grainy tannins which impart some grip to the finish. Good youthful but balanced acidity. Solid concentration and depth with a long blackberry, liquorice, crushed rock, spicy vanillin cedar and pepper aftertaste. Excellent value.
