2016 Giant Steps Lusatia Park Vineyard Chardonnay

Matured in a combination of new and used French oak for 10 months of which 20% was new, with no malolactic fermentation. Brilliant pale straw colour with a glimmer of green around the outskirts and a watery hue. The nose is one of great refinement and sophistication displaying elevated aromatics of white peaches and nectarines laced with dried honey over biscuity oak, subtle struck match characters, some citrusy nougat and light cashew. Light to medium weight with an understated richness, a faint creaminess to the mouthfeel and good vibrancy to the finish, the palate features an elegant yet stylish flavour profile of juicy white peaches and nectarines intermixed with dried honey characters and gun flint infusions. Nuances of cashew, light nougat and spice are also present. Excellent length with a long aftertaste of juicy white peaches, dried honey, subtle gun flint, cashew and nougat.
