2016 Five Geese The Pippali Old Vine Shiraz

The Pippali is sourced from 54 year old vines in the cooler McLaren Vale sub district of Blewitt Springs, which gives the wine a distinct peppery character. Maturation took place in a mixture of first and second year French oak hogsheads for a period of 24 months.

Fleshy and flooded with rich fruit, the cooler climes of Blewitt Springs adding an infusion of pepper.

Midnight black dark red colour with a deep dark red black tinged hue. Pronounced ripe blackberry, dark plum and liquorice aromas subtlety infused with blackpepper are trailed by faint hints of earth and spicy vanillin cedar. Rich and fleshy, blackberry, liquorice and dark plum fruit floods the mouth providing it with an opulent textural feel. Lightly toasted vanillin oak and spicy pepper elements then ensue. Smooth mid palate with silky tannins and a long peppery, dark fruited conclusion.
Drink over the next 5-6 years.
