Other Reviews....
The 2016 Echézeaux Grand Cru is a success, unwinding in the glass with a youthfully reserved bouquet of cherries, cassis, candied peel and incense, framed by some spicy new oak. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, deep and powerful, with satiny tannins, an ample core of fruit, succulent acids and a long, oak-inflected but persistent finish. This shows considerable promise. Drink 2024 - 2055.

Once again moderate wood is present on the more obviously menthol-infused aromas of red currant, cherry, Asian-style spice and a hint of dried orange peel. The middle weight flavors also possess a highly seductive mid-palate mouthfeel that contrasts considerably with the rustic, warm and slightly disjointed finish. As the description suggests this is somewhat awkward today but the underlying material appears to be present such that there is a reasonable chance that ultimately it will harmonize.
