2016 Domaine La Remejeanne Un Air Cotes du Rhone

All of the fruit for Olivier Klein's organic Un Air Côtes du Rhône is drawn from the estate's highland, sandy limestone vineyards set around the hamlet of Sabran. Everything is picked by hand, sorted, and then mostly destemmed. The ferment is natural and the wine then spends seven to eight months in concrete tanks with no fining and only a light filtration prior to bottling. Grown at 250 metres above sea level, the 2016 is a wonderfully aromatic, supple and delicious Côtes du Rhône.

Certified Organic, it’s a blend of 80% Grenache and 20% Syrah. Deep vibrant dark red colour with a bright purple red hue. Pronounced black raspberry, liquorice and incense like notes sail out of the glass followed by hints of scorched earth and pepper. Light to medium weight with a rich juicy feel, youthful dark raspberry and ripe cherry flavours fill the mouth backed by vivid fresh acidity. Elements of liquorice, earthy incense and spice are also apparent. Supple tannins. Excellent length with a long spicy dark raspberry, ripe cherry, earthy incense and fresh herb aftertaste.
Drink over the next 4-5 years.
