2016 Domaine De La Vieille Julienne Chateauneuf Du Pape Les Trois Sources

Impenetrable pitch black dark red colour with a deep dark red black hue. A heady mix of ripe black raspberry and black cherry aromatics soar out of the glass and are complexed by earthy leather and dried herb notes. Liquorice, dried meats and spice also chime in along the way. Incredibly rich, powerful and dense with monumental structure, lavish black fruits fill the mouth with decadence backed by firm ripe tannins which impart a chewy textural feel. Hugely concentrated flavours of black cherries and black raspberries are in the driver’s seat over seeing a back drop of liquorice, earthy leather characters, dried herbs, peppered meats and spice. Finishes with prodigious length.

Huge notes of blackcurrants, black raspberries, crushed violets, licorice, and incredible minerality, as well as a smoking floral quality, all soar from the glass of this full-bodied, seamless, pure wine that readers should snatch up. With good acidity, awesome purity, and a great, great finish, it's an incredible wine any way you look at it. Drink it anytime over the coming two decades or more. Drink before 2038.
