2016 Coriole Cabernet Sauvignon
Matured for 18 months in French oak. Totally opaque black dark red colour with a dark red hue. Nosing reveals a combination of lifted red and blackcurrant aromas which are followed by hints of mulberry, subtle cigar box notes, black olive and spice. Rich red and black currant flavours flood the medium to full bodied palate with traces of liquorice, light cigar box and spicy black olive elements also evident. Refined yet sturdy tannins provide ample structure for longer term cellaring. Excellent length with a long red and black currant, subtle liquorice, vanillin cedar, dried herb and spice aftertaste.
Cellar 6-8 years.
Alc. 14.5%
Other Reviews….
Cabernet from the Vales is under-sung, I feel. I like saying that.
Fine Cabernet fragrance within a regional frame. Small black berries and redcurrant, aniseed and cedar. It’s medium to full bodied, tightly packed, with firm fine grained tannin and balanced acidity, and the finish is articulate and convincing, and full of black olive and jubey fruit. This is very good Cabernet. A long life is almost assured. Drink 2018-2036.
