2016 Cillar Tempranillo

Produced from old vines this is the unwooded young Tempranillo from Cillar de Silos highlighting Ribera del Duero’s rich fruit. Totally opaque black dark red core with a dark red black tinged hue. Exuding from the glass are scents of ripe dark to black cherries and liquorice shaded by some blackcurrant with subtle earthy incense and spicy herb notes picking up on the finish. Medium to full bodied the palate is flooded with rich black cherry and liquorice flavours sitting above an undercurrent of vanillin characters, scorched earth, infusions of incense and spicy dried herbs. Fleshy textural feel with ripe, slightly chewy tannins providing structure. Excellent depth with a long juicy black cherry, liquorice, earthy incense and spicy vanilla aftertaste.
Drink over the next 5-6 years.
