2016 Chateau Val de Roc

Val de Roc is the passion project of Laurent Vallet, who works as the head of viticulture at the renowned Chateau Ausone in St. Emilion. The vineyard spans five hectares and sits on a slope northwest of the famous village of St. Emilion on the Right Bank of Bordeaux. It mainly grows merlot grapes. Vallet brings together his local knowledge of the Right Bank with his extensive experience gained from working at Chateau Ausone, which is recognized as one of the top wineries globally.
Deep black dark red core with a dark red hue. Engaging red to black currant aromas are complimented by tobacco, earth, old cedar, hints of leather and spice. Medium bodied red to black currant fruits are framed by grainy tannins with some earthy cedar, tobacco, spicy dried herb and leather lingering through the back half. Slightly chewy feel with a dryish mid length finish.
Drink over the next 1-2 years.
