2016 A.T. Richardson Chockstone Shiraz
Excellent depth of colour displaying a black as night core with a deep dark purple black hue. A pronounced bouquet of blackberry and liquorice drifts from the glass followed by vanillin cedar, a hint of earth, fennel and spicy pepper. The rich, medium weighted palate is flooded with blackberry, liquorice and plum flavours which sit over a back drop of vanillin cedar, scorched earth and blackpepper. Elegant yet structured tannins form the backbone. Long spicy blackberry, liquorice, vanillin cedar, earth and blackpepper aftertaste.
Cellar 5-6 years.
Alc. 14.5%
Other Reviews….
Deep crimson-purple; the brooding black fruits, licorice, spice and graphite of the bouquet speak truly of the intense, yet elegant, medium to full-bodied palate. The tannins are fine, the oak a servant, the finish long and impeccably balanced. Drink by 2036.
