Valle Secreto are a small producer with 36 Ha of low cropping vines (mostly Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz and Carmenere) They’re committed to producing wines from varieties which “express their potential with the local climate and special characteristic of the soil they are in.” Not that the Chileans don’t believe some places are better than others to grow grapes. 'Alto Cachapoal' is located in the newly designated (although still voluntary) Andes geographic zone and is warmer and drier than the coastal regions, and has greater diurnal temperature variation than vineyards on the wide valley floor.

Matured for 12 months in French oak. Magnificent colour displaying an impenetrable inky black core with a very deep dark red black hue. Aromas of ripe blackcurrant and a hint of liquorice are overlaid by fresh tobacco with dried herbs and spicy cedar following on. Rich, ripe blackcurrant and liquorice flavours infused with tobacco overlay dried herbs and spicy vanillin cedar. Dryish finish with sturdy yet fine grained tannins. Good depth with a long spicy aftertaste of ripe blackcurrant and liquorice fruit infused with fresh tobacco, dried herbs and spicy vanillin cedar.
Cellar 4-5 years.
Alc 14.5%
